We’re a locally owned, family-run optometry practice based in Homeworld Helensvale, built on decades of experience, a passion for great service, and a desire to do things differently.
For years, we’ve worked not only in everyday optics, but also behind the scenes of the film and media industry, designing and producing eyewear that meets the demanding needs of production and post-production crews. From specialty lenses to fast-turnaround solutions, we’ve supported the big screen with precision and speed.
That same level of attention and efficiency now serves the local community in Homeworld Helensvale, whether it’s a repair, a new prescription, or a same-day lens replacement.
The truth is, we got tired of seeing people leave optometry appointments feeling rushed, upsold, or ripped off. As big corporations took over much of the optical industry, prices went up, service went down, and quality was compromised.
We knew there had to be a better way, so we built it.

Born into the optical industry in South Africa, as his father owned an optical laboratory. After spending many hours being taught by his father, he increased his optical knowledge and was a qualified technician before leaving school.
After moving to Australia in his twenties, and working in all facets of the industry, Giulio finally purchased his first store in 2016 with his soul mate Katrina, starting the journey of Reel Optics.
A true creative with a great understanding of artistic function, line, form, space and colour. Being taught these skills by her talented father, who was a retail designer, from an early age.
Katrina's optical journey began in Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where she grew an appreciation of modern eyewear fashion and sustainable living.
